The Plan

I think I figured out what the plan is! But first, I must tell you about my workout. Today I went to the track, again, and decided to just run. To forget about running the bleachers, and to just run around the track. I did just that, and I ran two whole miles without stopping! That’s something that has NEVER been done before. Not even in high school when I was on the dance/cheer/swim team! And my pace was 10’18”/mi. Whoo!

Numbers aren’t everything! Although I haven’t seen a huge difference in my appearance, or on the scale, I feel so much better about myself. My confidence has boosted, and I’m always in a good mood after my workouts. Just to know that I’m becoming more fit, and that I’m eating healthier makes me feel better.

So, the plan is to keep running. I’m just gonna head down to the track and run. As time goes by, I hope to see improvement in my time and distance. Oh, and my weight. Lol. I’ve always said I wanted to become more of a runner, so that’s what I’m gonna do. And hopefully I’ll be able to run the perimeter of my school at some point.

Cheered Up

Today I went to the track at my school for the first time in a while. I could definitely tell that my stamina has increased since I’ve started working out because I ran a mile around the track nonstop. I couldn’t do that before. I also ran up and down the stairs of the bleachers. That was pretty much another mile and it burned like hell. After I finished, I showered and went to dinner. My friends kept asking what I had been eating because I was so energized. It felt great! And my eating was awesome today!

All together, today has been a good day. I’m definitely in a much better mood than yesterday, and I feel motivated again.

I’m proud of myself. For the first time in a long time, I’ve worked out everyday from Monday to Saturday, so I’ll be able to take a rest day tomorrow. Yesterday I went to a fitness class called Bootcamp Fun. It definitely wasn’t as intense as I would have liked it to be, but it was alright. I was supposed to take a spin class, but changed my mind at the last minute. Today I went to “Aztec Mountain” with two of my friends. It was the first time for one of them, and he freaking walked up those steps three times in a row! I was impressed and felt bad. Lol. I walked up once in a half, then took the trail the rest of the way. My legs were so sore from all of my workouts this week.

Next week, I plan on only taking spin classes. I want to see what kind of progress I can make with just spin. Which means I’ll be weighing myself tomorrow, even though it hasn’t been two weeks.

But none of that matters because I’m just happy that I don’t have to workout tomorrow! lol

Another Good Day

I’ve lost count of the days, but today was great. I stayed within my calorie limit, I tried out a new fitness class at the gym, and I got my new iPod in the mail! I had jamba juice for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch, and a salad and hot dog for dinner. They weren’t the most tasty meals, but they were filling. I bought my fitness pass today and went to the Hula Hoop Workout class. I had a lot of fun, but it was definitely difficult at times, and the lady had way too much energy. Lol. Overall, I enjoyed it and I’ll be going back next week.

Lastly, I picked up my new iPod today from the mail room and I’m so excited!! Not only is it green, my favorite color, but I got “Commit to be Fit” engraved on the back. I’m going to use it solely for workout songs, at least until I lose all the weight I want. Also, my new running shoes are made for the Nike+ program, so with my new ipod, I’ll be able to track my pace when running, and number of steps when walking. I’m sure there are other features too, but I don’t know of them yet. Either way, I’m still excited!!

My new iPod:

Today was simply PAINFUL!

OMG! I tried to run the perimeter again, and I just could not make it. My legs are still ridiculously sore from my run on Saturday, even though I took Sunday off!! As hard as tried to continue jogging, I couldn’t take the pain. Each step was more painful than the last. So after jogging about half way, I walked back to my room. I can tell it’s going to be a long time before I can jog the entire 3.9 miles.

It’s so hard to exercise when your body is sore. It takes so much more work and it’s so brutal. But I have no choice. I HAVE to keep going. I’m getting closer and closer to being where I want to be. I will continue to endure the pain because soon enough, I won’t have to!

Since I’ve Been Gone

Whoo, it’s been a few days since I’ve posted, but I’m back for good.

Today I went on a 3.9 mile RUN!!! That’s right, I hit the perimeter of my school for the second time. MY THIGHS BURN LIKE HELL!! I jogged most of the way and walked a bit. All together it took me almost an hour to finish and I’m perfectly fine with that. Hopefully in a few weeks, it’ll take me less time. I feel so good now that I’ve worked out again. From now on, I’m working towards my January goals. I will be dedicated.

Since I’ve been gone, I’ve bought new running shoes and workout clothes. I used my new shoes today and they felt great. They’re a little bright, but I like em! Now that I’m back at school, I’ll be able to keep my eating in tact, so I’m expecting these pounds to start dropping quick! Tomorrow I’m going to buy a fitness pass for the gym so that I can take all of the fun classes like spin, and total body challenge throughout the upcoming quarter and I’ll be weighing in tomorrow morning to see where I’m starting for the quarter/month.

Day 47/90

Another great workout at the park. I walked up this steep hill, jogged the track twice, and walked/jogged one of the trails. When I made a bowl of oatmeal and told my dad it was only 150 calories, he actually told me that he was glad to see I was staying on top of things. It meant a lot to hear him say that since he’s my biggest critique.

Anyways, I can’t believe how much I enjoy working out now. Every time I finish a good workout I’m so happy and satisfied, and even when I’m working out, I always ask myself if I can go a little longer or push a little harder. I’m sure that if I had my eating under better control, I’d lose these pounds so much quicker.

I actually enjoy exercise, who would’ve guessed?

Day 45/90

I must say, for me to be half way through three months of fitness, I definitely had a great workout. I went back to the same park from yesterday, only this time I did a lot more jogging. I want to be more of an outdoor runner. So far I’ve done a lot of running on the treadmill, and it does not compare to running in the great outdoors at all. To become more accustomed to running on pavement, I figured I should at least start running on pavement. On the treadmill I can jog for 30 minutes straight. How long did I last on the track at the park? ONLY 8 MINUTES! I was a little disappointed, but I understood why I wasn’t able to run for too long. And believe me when I say that 8 minutes wore me out! So for the rest of the hour that I was there, I jogged a couple of times more, but I walked most of it.
Today was also great because I worked out with my boyfriend. He’s a great motivator. It was nice spending quality time with him in such a beautiful place.
Yesterday I said I needed to get back to my intense workouts, and I think I did just that. I will be running again tomorrow.

Day 44/90

I finally worked out again after chilling for four days. I went walking with my dad and aunt at this really nice park down the street from my house. We walked for an hour and a half! It wasn’t very hard, so I jogged a couple of times throughout the walk. The scenic view was really nice though. At the top of the park you can look over Los Angeles. Exercising means the most to me when it’s really intense, leaving me feeling accomplished afterwards, or when it involves good bonding time, and that happened today. And even though I’d love to walk with them again, I need to get back to my intense workouts. Once I got home and took a shower, I felt great. I was really happy to have worked out again.

Day 37/90

Another day on the stairs, only today I changed it up a bit. I went with one of my friends and her two sisters. We walked up the stairs once, walked down, and then jogged/walked up the trail that wraps around the hill and stairs. When I was jogging, I could feel so much pain in my legs, butt, and abs, but I loved it! And the view once you reach the top is just beautiful. After we finished, we went to Jamba Juice and I had their froyo for the first time. IT WAS DELICIOUS!! The strawberry swirl with granola, OMG. I can only imagine myself going back for more and more.

One of the sisters kept saying she was glad she came, because you can’t help but feel accomplished after walking up those stairs, especially if you do it more than once.

I’m scared to weigh myself. Since I’ve been home, I’ve been working out off and on, and my eating habits haven’t been too great. I really hope I haven’t gained anything. I’ll be fine at the same weight, just as long as I haven’t gained.

Day 36/90

Made it back to Aztec Mountain and walked it about 1 1/2 times. I know that sounds weird, but it’s because I didn’t go all the way up the second time lol. While I was there, I ran into a girl who went to my high school and she was working out with a group of people. She told me they meet on Mondays at the bottom of the stairs at 9am. I’m definitely going to workout with them next week. It’ll be nice to meet some new people, and have a change of pace in the exercise area.

I’m sad to say it, but I’ve actually missed working out.

Day 35/90

That’s right. I made myself get off the couch today to workout. My brother and I went back to AZTEC MOUNTAIN (the name my dad gave to the crazy stairs). We walked up them twice and it felt GREAT. I thought it was going to be cold outside, so I wore a sweater, but it ended up being pretty warm and I sweated a lot. I plan on going back tomorrow. Hopefully by the end of the week I can walk up them three times, so that at the end of the month I can reach my goal and walk up the five times!

I was really starting to feel bad for not working out as much as I’m supposed to. And for the fact that I haven’t been eating so well. But today put everything into perspective. I saw two women at the top of the stairs. One had a really nice shape, the other was pretty skinny with some muscle, and all I could think of is that it’s actually possible for me to look good like that. I just have to keep doing what I’m doing, stay dedicated, and the results will soon follow.

Here’s a picture of Aztec Mountain for anyone who doesn’t know what I’m talking about:

Day 32/90

I haven’t worked out yet, and it’s 8pm. BUT, I’m going skating tonight and I’m excited. I’m wearing sweats just to make sure I’m comfortable so I can get a good roll on. I am going to sweat tonight and skate with a workout in mind. So no resting, unless I have to because of couples skating, or trios, etc.

Day 31/90

Today wasn’t anything special. I was supposed to go walking with my dad and aunt, but I just couldn’t get up this morning. So instead, I just did some strength training, focusing on my legs. I did donkey kicks, dead lifts, and sumo squats. Better than nothing.

I’ll be back in the gym tomorrow to do cardio.

Day 30/90

I know, I’ve skipped a lot of days.

But today I got back in the gym! I was on the treadmill for 35 minutes, I jogged for 30, and walked the rest. It felt GREAT. AND, it was my first time in a big gym other then the one at my school. I went to Ballys with my dad and aunt which was nice for bonding with the two of them. I had a sandwich right before, so I had plenty of fuel and energy for a good workout. Afterwards, I went to the store and bought tons of healthy food to eat while I’m at home for winter break. I bought spinach, turkey meat, froyo, frozen strawberries and raspberries for smoothies, carrots, pita bread, fresh fruits (including my favorite, clementines), orange juice, feta cheese and other stuff I can’t remember. I’ve been logging everything that I’ve eaten today, and I still have over 600 calories for dinner. I’m going to make some crepe batter tonight so I can have spinach, egg, and feta crepes for breakfast tomorrow!

It feels good to be back on track.
