Discipline v.s. Motivation
Let us discuss why motivation is nice to have, but it isn’t necessary to achieving goals. And if motivation is unnecessary, then what will drive us towards the goals we set?
Motivation is inconsistent, and unreliable. Motivation isn’t always going to be there to push us towards our goals — discipline will always be efficient, because regardless of our current mental state, discipline will take precedent over it.
Motivation only drives us when we have it. We become inefficient when that motivation is absent. Motivation is secondary, an accessory, and a side dish to discipline. When you think of discipline, think of the word “must”. In order to cross the finish line, we must begin to run. That’s discipline, not motivation.
Discipline tells us to “just do it”. Motivation tells that if we are inspired enough, we might do it.
