Never thought I’d say this…but I miss CARDIO!

So I planned on doing day 5 of level 2 of the 30 day shred, but instead I decided to do 20mins on the stair master, and the whole time I was thinking about all the cardio I’ve been missing out on. Running, spin, and the glorious stair master. I literally was at a point where I wanted to leave the gym and just go running on the track. Jillian is great and all, but she’s no track! I miss the feeling I get after a great run. I would try to do some cardio plus the 30 day shred, but I wouldn’t survive. So, once I finish the 30 days, I’m going straight back to running!!!!

30 Day Shred Update

So today I finished day 8 and it was actually less painful! I also did 20 minutes of jumping rope. I’m worried to see what Jillian will have me doing for level 2, but I still have 2 days of level 1 to finish. Also, I skipped Saturday and Sunday since I was out of town, so to make up for those days, I’ll be doing level 3 for 12 days! Yikes.

It was funny because I was listening to my new favorite Rihanna song “Watch N Learn” and whenever I workout, I mouth the words to the songs I’m listening to and all of the dudes who were lifting weights kept giving me weird looks like “what does this chick think she’s doing.” I just smiled and kept on jamming. I never believed people when they said working out becomes a habit. I thought I would always hate exercising. But lately I can’t imagine not working out and it has actually been fun. And of course it always makes me feel good!!

Anybody else have a good workout??

30 Day Shred Level 1

Finished level 1 today and it was good. I enjoyed the workout because it wasn’t too intense, but I still broke a sweat. I plan on doing at least 20 minutes of cardio before each day though to get better results.

Oh yeah, I didn’t even use weights today because I did it at my friends apartment. Lol. We’ll be hitting the gym tomorrow to use the dumbbells there, so I know it’ll be harder tomorrow!

Also, I’m doing it with two of my friends which is waaayyy better!

Just had a great lunch!

I couldn’t tell you the last time I ate a salad. When I first started eating healthier I would eat a salad for lunch and dinner everyday. Need less to say, I got real tired of salads. But salads are pretty much the only healthy thing on campus. Everyday there’s pizza, burgers, pasta, fries, and cereal. The salad bar is there everyday too, but with the same choice of condiments. There are some meals that have smaller calorie counts than others, but they’re still unhealthy, whether it’s because of what food it is, or how it’s cooked. So there really isn’t much to choose from when trying to eat healthy.

Blah, blah, blah right? Anyways, I ate a salad for lunch for the first time in forever and I had cantaloupe, green apples with peanut butter, and three glasses of water. I’ve been wondering why I haven’t been losing much weight lately, and I think it’s because I’m not eating as well as I did when I started out. So, even though I’m awfully tired of salads, I’m going to try to eat them more often, but still not as often as before. Lol. I definitely need to cutback on the desserts, and try to eat more fruits and vegetables with my meals. When it comes to calories, its quality over quantity. I can stay in my calorie limit with fat, greasy food, but that isn’t going to get me where I want to be.

It’s time to make more mindful choices about my eating!

strengthfromstruggle:

I already do a lot of these skipping techniques. The rest of the moves are in the works I will master all I promise!

Omg this is perfect! I need more techniques to do since I plan on jumping/skipping rope more often. I can only do the basic moves.

Crazy Things Happen

Today I made it to the track and I ran. And I cried. I ran and I cried. That went of for the first 5 minutes of my run. Then I got lost in my music. I don’t even know where I get the motivation to workout anymore. It’s not because I’m losing weight, because I’m not. I guess I just looked at my calendar and didn’t want another empty square this month. And how I managed to run a whole five miles is beyond me. I guess that was a result of all the shit going on in my life right now.

After a while, I just started staring at the ground. I would run and keep my eyes on the track. Then my ankles and knees started to hurt. I ran through that. Either they stopped hurting, or I just became numb to the pain. I’m still in disbelief. I guess I can thank my iPod for playing songs that made me want to keep going.

Once I hit the 5 mile mark, I started crying again. Partly because I was proud of my new accomplishment. Partly because I still had the sick feeling in my stomach I’ve been feeling for the past couple of days. When I got back to my room, I did some good stretching and took a hot shower, ending it with cold water (it’s really refreshing). I suppose I should get some food in my stomach now.

I RAN FIVE MILES TODAY!

Something I learned in class today…

Be weary when you read “blank percentage of the population is obese” or “the percentage of obese people has increased by blank amount.” In reality, drug companies have decreased the values of BMI percentiles, placing more people who were at once considered “overweight” into the “obese” categories. This helps them sell more products.

Today’s Workout

I ran to the gym on campus, which was a little over 1.5 miles because I went the LONG way! Lol. Then I did 10 minutes on the stair master. Something new but good. During my run, my calfs were burning. I think I might not be stretching them out good enough. Or they probably just aren’t used to so much running which sucks because I’ve really been enjoying jogging around campus. I need to figure something out.

By the way, this is my 1,001 post! Yikes!
